Latin Grammy winner Sergio George has produced a CD and DVD titled ‘Salsa Giants‘ including legends in Salsa music such as Marc Anthony, Oscar De Leon, Cheo Feliciano and more. The DVD includes footage of last summers concert “Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival” where a group of Salsa musicians came together for a historical event.
George told Blogamole “It was a great experience, better than what we expected. It was a lot of pressure because we only had one show to try to get all this done and make it sound really good, which is hard to do with a live show. The band was a new band, and the artists had never worked with the band together. There was a lot of nervous energy, but turned out to be a great experience. Lots of camaraderie in the rehearsals. It was just great working with all these guys. A lot of them I haven’t seen in 20 years.”
The Puerto Rican musical director and producer has earned two Latin Grammys for Producer of the Year and has received over 200 million album credits as either a producer, pianist or composer. George is now the CEO of Top Stop Music, a label working with young stars like Prince Royce and Leslie Grace. Being raised in Spanish Harlem George started to produce when he was just 16 years old.
‘Salsa Giants‘ is executive produced by Gregory Elias, Sergio George and Pablo Croce, the ‘Salsa Giants‘ documentary, narrated by John Leguizamo. A preview of the film can be viewed here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-1oPioF2to.
