Last week LatinTrends was invited to City Harvest’s Mid-Winter Taste Event at the Resorts World Casino New York City. City Harvest is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending hunger in communities throughout New York City. All proceeds supported City Harvest in helping feed millions of people who face hunger each year! The Resorts World Casino handed over a $100,00.00 check to City Harvest Organization.
A few lucky readers won tickets to join us while we met with celebrity chefs and feasted on delectable food from over 30 popular restaurants. Contenders from Season 11 of “Hell’s Kitchen” Chef Barret Beyer and Chef Anthony Rodriguez were interviewing fellow Chef Todd English, Chef Ming Tsai, and Chef Chris Santos along with Miss USA Erin Brady live on their radio show “Triple F with the Chef.”
I had the pleasure of learning that both Chef Barret and Chef Anthony had only a couple of years working as chefs but both always had a passion for food. You can imagine their dedication and determination if you’ve ever seen an episode of “Hell’s Kitchen!” When asked for some inspirational words; Chef Barret Beyer didn’t hold back and offered up saying, “Always dream big and if you get knocked down get the *bleep* back up!” Chef Anthony Rodriguez is a perfect balance to the show and his words of wisdom “Don’t ever lose yourself and passion in this business”. Both chefs are forces to be reckoned with and this isn’t the last you’ll see of them! Rock and Roll Chef Chris Santos couldn’t be reached for a quote but he was fully involved in the entire City Harvest event.
I had the opportunity to speak exclusively with the other high-profile celebrity chefs and asked them all the same question. If they could offer any inspiring words to people pursuing their dreams what would they say? Chef Todd English a restaurateur, author, entrepreneur and television star offered up a simple yet powerful quote stating “Follow your heart and always believe.” I can live with those very wise words especially from someone with over twenty restaurants under Todd English Enterprises. Chef Ming Tsai is also a restaurateur, author, TV/new media host and producer, product developer, advocate and East-West lifestyle expert. He said “Make sure you’re the first to show up and last to leave.” As the night was wrapping up he did exactly that; helping his staff break down their food station and making sure guests enjoyed their food. This sold out event had the perfect balance of food, drinks, desserts and entertainment!
This event was one for the books; for future events make sure to get your tickets early and arrive on time!
