The Dominican Women’s Development Center (DWDC) celebrated its annual gala honoring political leaders, community organizers and local philanthropists that help support the non-profit organization’s diverse programs for Latinas in Washington Heights.
DWDC celebrated its 26th Anniversary with a beautiful and well-organized event at the famous Maestro’s Caterers. The annual affair titled “Celebrating our Children” recognized New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito with the “Women’s Leadership Award”. Other attendees such as Susana Osorio (co-owner of Mamajuana Café), Cid Wilson, Mark Fosmoen, Anthony Gurino and Niurka Rodriguez were also honored and recognized for their assistance and contributions to the betterment of society.
The event featured live performances by musicians and artists, an art exhibition created by the children in the organization and an auction to raise funds to support the diverse programs at DWDC.
