Last week was Latin Fashion Week in New York City, September 12-14th. On Friday, September 13th I attended the Runway shows of Argentinean Designer, Geraldine de La Rosa, Anthony Collection by Salvadorian designer, Jorge Guzman followed by the high-end couture designs by Dominican designer, Victor Lopez.
Latin Fashion Week was founded by Sobeidy Vidal who began with a dream to share the style, creativity and brilliance of Latin fashion designers with the world in order to demonstrate and generate Latin pride and Latin genius.
Argentinean Designer, Geraldine de La Rosa, kicked off the show with her Geraldmoon designs. The first dress was a 70’s inspired, gorgeous gold shimmery evening gown. Other looks included sexy black leather skirts, tight metallic gold and silver pants with black see-through colorful tops. She also incorporated zebra inspired tops and tight waisted, loose legged pants as well as tight skinny jeans. Geraldmood designs are a perfect combination to wear on a night out with your girlfriends this fall and definitely something to look into for your New Years Eve gown!
The second fashionista was the Anthony Collection by Salvadorian designer, Jorge Guzman who was presented by his loyal assistant, Tony Escobar. Jorge’s mens line was very nicely laid out using their ordinary ‘everyday man’ as models, from soccer players to doctors. The Anthony Collection is a combination of the classic English gentleman and the modern man using great warm dark brown blazers with elbow pads nicely stitched with great pops of yellow vests and orange color ties as well as some 60’s inspired patterned pants along with 50’s style inspired hats.
The last presenter of the night was Dominican designer, Victor Lopez who has dressed celebrities such as Mexican singer, Ana Barbara for the Latin Billboards. The theme of his runway show was ‘Black Wedding.’ All of the female models were the ‘bridesmaids’ and then came the bride all dressed in, yes, black.
At first the models/ bridesmaids walked out in short black cocktail dresses with nicely detailed, gold metallic flowers in the waistline. Then they appeared in a fabulous clear, plastic skirts over a one piece mini black neck lined, sleeveless cocktail dress. Lastly came the couture gowns! The gowns where gorgeous, couture ‘funeral’ gowns your favorite telenovela “villana” would wear to her enemies funeral. There was one amazing shimmery black gown with a stunning, plunging neckline gown with short train…simply spectacular! Victor Lopez’s fashions are high fashion, red carpet styles to die for! A Latino designer for every fashion forward glamorous woman.
