The Fourteenth Annual Latino Trendsetter Awards, a landmark celebration of excellence in enterprise, arts, entertainment, health, education and community leadership, will be held at on Tuesday, May 10th, 2016 from 6-10 P.M. at The Symphony Space Theater in New York City. The event is sponsored in part by New York Presbyterian Hospital, Inca Kola and CUNY. Media (sweepstakes) partners are; La Mega 97.9 & Amor 93.1 and presented by LatinTRENDS. It will commence with a VIP red carpet reception, attended by awardees, influencers and media.The award presentation will be partially open to the public and special guest and will start at 8PM. It will feature a musical performances by Frankie Negron , a multi-cultural dance performance featuring tango, flamenco, salsa and bachata music. Emerging urban Tropical musician, Doñé, will perform live as well.

Before joining Mercer in 2012, Mr. Portalatin served as President and CEO of the Growth Economies for American International Group (AIG). During his tenure at AIG, he served in a number of senior positions, including President and CEO of Emerging Markets, President and CEO of AIG Europe S.A. and Continental European Region, President of American International Underwriters’ (AIU) Worldwide Accident & Health Division, President of AIU’s Personal Lines Worldwide Division, President and General Manager of AIU Seguros Interamericana in Mexico, Executive Vice President of AIU’s Latin American Division and Vice President – Property for Lexington Insurance Company, a subsidiary of AIG. Prior to joining AIG in 1993, Mr. Portalatin spent 12 years with Allstate Insurance Company in various executive product underwriting, distribution and marketing positions.
Mr. Portalatin received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Hofstra University in New York as well as an honorary doctoral degree. He is a member of the Hofstra University Board of Trustees and is also an active volunteer with Covenant House in New York City.
Since assuming the role of CEO at Mercer, Mr. Portalatin has traveled the world speaking with business and government officials on a variety of topics, including human capital trends & workforce of the future, financial crisis, wellness, healthcare reform, pension systems and workplace diversity & innovation. He works closely with the World Economic Forum (WEF) and has spoken alongside global leaders, such as Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund. Mr. Portalatin is also a member of British American Business, which is the pre-eminent transatlantic business organization.
