‘What’s trending?’ was the question of the day and the five topics that were discussed were Today’s Hispanic Market, Music, Film and TV, Business, and Mobile Tech and Social Media. Each panel was led by a moderator and the panelists who were knowledgeable about what was going on in today’s market in order to educate the audience in what is possibly the next big idea to come.
The first panel was about Today’s Hispanic Market moderated by Ali Curi, President of HPNG (Hispanic Professional Networking Group) and included the growth of the US Hispanic market and how it impacts the general market. The panel included Director of Educational Testing at York College CUNY and Professor of Sociology and Latin American Studies at John Jay College CUNY Fenix Arias, PhD. Also on the panel were Vice President and Group Account Director of HAVAS Media, Ronald Mendez and Life and Style Editor of El Diario/La Prensa Liseth Perez-Almeida. The panel discussed how big of a market Latinos are and is rapidly growing which marketers know brings in money.
The second panel was about Music and was moderated by Latin Music Executive Entrepreneur Porfilio Piña. Panelists included Universal Music Latin East Coast Marketing and Promotions Manager Mario “Jochy” Rodriguez, Award-winning Music and Film Producer Boy Wonder and Vice President of Sales for Spanish Broadcasting Systems La Mega and Amor. They discussed the importance of branding and marketing to extend all other properties such as uploading videos, demos and offering up and coming artists access in a non-traditional way.
The Film and TV panel was moderated by Maria V. Luna, Associate Editor of LatinTrends and the panelists included Edwin Mejia, Partner The Vladar Company, A.B. Lugo, Actor, Writer & Director of Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA), and James Moore, Director, Video Product Manager and Marketing of Time Warner Cable Business Class.
This panel addressed several issues including the impact on the Internet, different challenges and opportunities, the growth of webisodes, mainstreaming film and TV with more Latinos, new players affected by film and TV evolving, options of financing, proposals and where to target to get work out there.
The Business panel was moderated by Juan Guillen, Founder and CEO of Latin Trends, Maria Otero, Founder and President, Women’s Venture Fund, Inc., and Ary Nunez, Entrepreneur/Celebrity Fitness Coach of Star of EMPUJE on tr3s.
This panel highlighted topics such as an entrepreneur mindset, success stories that have failed, reasons for business failure and success, Internet, diversity of mind and culture, and planning for the future.
The last panel was about Mobile Technology and Social Media and how to create the right message for your brand, company and clients to use online presence more effectively. Panelists included Strategic Planner and Agency Development for Google, Liliana Cerilo, Founder/Chair for LATISM, Ana Roca Castro and Co-Founder and EVP for MamasLatinas.com Lucia-Ballas-Traynor and moderated by Nathalia Ortiz, a Co-Anchor on TelemundoNY “Buenos Dias Nueva York”
