Gloria Estefan was the Grand Marshal of Sunday’s Miami Beach Gay Pride parade along with Co-Grand Marshal, Kenny Ortega.
On Thursday, Gloria spoke to an intimate crowd at the private VIP Miami Gay Pride Kickoff reception held at the Miami W Hotel:
“I’m very happy to be celebrating the fact that I think we’re moving towards real equality,” she said.
“Of all the causes that have been, this has been really coming at breakneck speed, which makes me very happy for the gay community, the LGBT community. We’re all human beings. We deserve to share the same rights. Consenting adults should be able to make their lives the way they want legally, in every way.”
Gloria went on to say:
“The gay community’s been so supportive of our music from before it was even in the mainstream. They were out there in the clubs in full force, always representing and supporting,“.
“When I was super-pregnant with my daughter Emily and was way to bloated to be in any video I thought, who can do me better than me? And hello, it’s all of you!”
On Sunday Gloria was introduced to the Miami Beach Gay Pride‘s Main stage by her Co-Grand Marshal and friend, Kenny Ortega [who has just directed a film co-written by her husband Emilo] to a very excited crowd where she she said:
“You look beautiful, you look proud and I am proud of you!”
“I am thrilled and honored, it’s a privilege to be here today as your Grand Marshal, I am very happy to be here and hopefully very soon we will achieve equality for all.”
“I love Miami Beach, I love Florida, we live in paradise and hopefully paradise will get even better when everybody is equal.”
