Revenue Chief for Spanish Broadcasting System La Mega & Amor selected as a 2015 Latino Trendsetter Award Recipient
Mr. García was born on October 26th 1976, to Cuban parents in New York City. He was exposed to the world of radio from a very early age, since his dad worked with some of the most important media outlets in the U.S.A. Watching his father, he developed an understanding of how powerful the relationship between sales and programming can be. With that in mind, García earned his B.A. from Long Island University and he rapidly started working in broadcasting. After a stint at Spanish Broadcasting System as a sales assistant, Eric settled as a sales executive for Interep, from 2000 to 2004. With the experience he obtained at Interep, García felt he was ready to return to SBS on a more prominent role. He returned as an account executive for SBS‘s two radio stations in New York, WSKQ, La Mega, and WPAT, 93.1 Amor. His easy going attitude and hands- on approach made him a hit with clients, so he slowly but surely was promoted to National Sales Manager, then to General Manager of SBS New York stations and now Radio revenue Chief of Spanish Broadcasting System. Under his leadership, SBS New York has increased sales in a 29%, compared to the prior year, an accomplishment made greater by the fact that today’s economy is less than perfect. Also, the changes that he has implemented with his programming department have made the ratings for both stations soar in the last few months. With a passion for radio and an open door policy that is admired by all his co-workers, Eric García looks forward to making Mega and Amor, the top radio properties in the New York Metro Area.
Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. is the largest publicly traded Hispanic-controlled media and entertainment company in the United States. SBS owns and/or operates 21 radio stations located in the top U.S. Hispanic markets of New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco and Puerto Rico.
