We are approaching a time when we have technology based everything from phones that allow us to browse, shop and even pay bills without going anywhere, to video games that now allow you to be in the game making you the controller and the gaming avatar and now smart technology is at home as home appliances. NY1 hosted their annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this past weekend and I was surprised to find out how high tech household appliances are becoming the next era of technology. Washers and dryers clean clothes and refrigerators and freezers keep food cold. But now developers want these household appliances to do a lot more tasks and even connect to the Internet.
Samsung, Whirlpool and LG Electronics are among those pushing the so-called Smart Appliances. Its refrigerators with built-in LCDs help users look up recipes keep track of when food goes bad or even leave 21st-century post-its for family members.
Whirlpool spokesmen stated this about their version of the smart products “You get an alert, for example, if your kids left the fridge door open or if your washing machine ran out of soap or it’ll tell you about energy management tips and features,” says Warwick Stirling of Whirlpool.
With tech on the constant rise like this I’m simply wondering how long it would be before we have flying cars and hovering buildings.
