Vazquez tweeted, “Not for nothing, but we ALL deserve a check or some free cereal 4 all the publicity we’ve given Honey Nut Cheerios! LOL #cantbelieveeverything.” She even uploaded a picture of the quote, generating some levity out of a situation that could’ve gotten very ugly when the New York Knicks hosted the Celtics on Monday night.
Anthony and Garnett almost came to blows multiple times during the game, and after Boston’s 102-96 victory, Anthony tried to confront Garnett twice, the second time by the Celtics’ team bus. According to reports, it took five NYPD cops, Knicks coach Mike Woodson and Madison Square Garden security to keep Anthony away from Garnett, whose Honey Nut Cheerios comment wasn’t revealed to the public until Wednesday.
The NBA investigated the incident and handed Anthony a one-game suspension without pay, which kept him out of Thursday’s contest vs. the Indiana Pacers. Indiana defeated New York 81-76.As for Anthony and Vazquez, the two have reportedly been living separately for two months—perhaps even longer. While talk of an imminent divorce has been nonexistant, a friend of the couple did tell the New York Post this week that the two haven’t seen each other much over the past few months.
“She’s been away a lot filming her show, ‘La La’s Full Court Life,’ in London, New York and L.A.,” the couple’s friend said. “They are not separated and are still together. She and Melo have a house in L.A. — so she’s always there when she’s doing auditions.”
