The Dominican Women’s Development Center is coming together one more time to celebrate their 26th Anniversary; with an elegant dinner dedicated to raise funds for the organization. The celebration will take place on Friday October 24, 2014 from 6 PM to 11 PM at the famous Maestro’s Caterers 1703 Bronxdale Ave. Bronx, NY 10462. The funds raised at this event will be used to support our diverse programs for Latina women and families of the Washington Heights community.
This year the Gala will proudly recognize exceptional individuals and corporations that have made their mark in the Hispanic community. The Mistress of Ceremonies for the night will be our long time loyal collaborator Isolda Peguero, from Telemundo Internacional. Among notable honorees will be the honorable Melissa Mark Viverito, Speaker, of the New York City Council, the first Latina to occupy a high Citywide elected position who will be recognized with the “Women’s Leadership Award” due to her extraordinary commitment to political and community activism; Susana Osorio, Co-owner of Mamajuana Café and Mama Sushi Restaurant, who will be recognized with the “Business Leadership Award,” Cid Wilson, President & CEO of Hispanic Association for Corporate Responsibility will receive the “Outstanding Community Leadership Award” and who has represented us well at so many levels in Wall Street; Mark Fosmoen, Former NYC Branch Manager of Toshiba Corporate Solutions and is now the Senior Branch Manager at Konica Minolta will be recognized with the “Corporate Leadership Award.”
Anthony Gurino, President of Dad’s Away Foundation who always provides dinner for our families on Thanksgiving and toys for our children on Christmas will be recognized with the award of “Philanthropist of the year award.” Niurka Rodriguez as the DWDC Fiscal Officer will be recognized as our “Employee of the Year award” for her outstanding commitment and dedication to the organization.
Of special interest is the incorporation of children in the program with the presence of classical singer Maria Jose Nolasco and Broadway and HBO star Victoria Dennis both of whom will be singing for the public. There will also be an Art Exhibit of children from their programs. Children from the programs will also be presenting the awards.
Live Latin music entertainment will be provided by Ncue band.
