The legendary night club Copacabana will officially reopen its doors on July 12, at 6pm with a performance by Willie Colon (Latin music legend and former Latino Trendsetter Award recipient)! The Copa will reopen in the old China Club, 268 W47th St. (just off of Eighth Ave) in Times Square, with owners John Juliano, along with grandsons Kyle & Anthony for the next 20 years.
The Copa still has its strict dress code but the same great sabor! Admission to the grand opening night is $20. Willie Colon will perform at 9:30pm.
The club will be three floors, with the second floor and full-service restaurant and the third an open-roof (when the weather is nice enough) dancing floor. It will feature live Latin entertainment every Tuesday, Friday & Saturday night.
Here are just a few tidbits about the Copa’s history:
- Originally opened November 10, 1940 at 10 East 60th Street
- Moved to 617West 57th Street in 1992, more than 50 years later
- Was forced to move to West 34th St. & 11th Ave in 2001
- Then closed July 1st 2007
