The Vampire craze has yet to receive a stake to the heart with True Blood, a show depicting the lives of Bon Temps living and non-living residents in Louisiana, and Twilight’s soon-to-be released final film currently getting all the buzz in Hollywood, Disney superstar and Latina actress Selena Gomez will soon be wearing a pair of Vampire Fangs for her latest flick.
Scheduled to his theatres September 28th, Gomez will be voicing a rebellious 118 year-old “teenage” vampire named Mavis in the new computer-animated 3D comedy film by Sony named Hotel Transylvania. Vamping out with Gomez will be Comedian, SNL Alumni, and Movie star Adam Sandler who will be playing Gomez’s dad Dracula.
“It’s a family-oriented movie and it touches on monsters and Dracula,” said Gomez when discussing the film and how it also contains, “all the stories that have been around for ages,” concerning all things supernatural.
Gomez’s character Mavis has been forced into a recluse life having lived in her father’s, Dracula’s, castle her entire life who in the film is over-protective and will ensure that his daughter’s curiosity does not get her into trouble. A character Gomez has a little in common with.
In the film, Gomez’s character wants to break free of her father’s over-protective ways and explore the world outside something she relates to. Even though she is 20-years-old, Gomez says she can relate to her character, “It’s not like I get vacation time from my parents when I go to different places to work, they’re right there with me,” relating how her parents go everywhere with her despite being a legal adult now.
Since her career began at the age of 10, when she first appeared on the hit kid show Barney & Friends, Gomez has been kept grounded by a close team consisting of her parents and friends. “I have a great support system, I really do, I have great friends, I have a great family, I have amazing fans and I’m super lucky to do what I do.” And this support system has proved both beneficial and useful in the actress’s rising career.
Although acting is not new for Gomez, she found playing a role alongside Sandler, a Movie and Comedian giant, quite intimidating until she met and quickly bonded with Sandler stating, “He was really supportive, really funny, he was super happy with the movie, which makes me happy.”
So you can catch Gomez in Hotel Transylvania when it comes out on the 28th of September, which is just in time for Halloween.
