It’s awards season! The 19th Annual SAG award nominations were announced and some of our favorite Latinos made the list. Sofia Vergara received two nominations for her role on ABC’s Modern Family. The Colombian actress was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series and for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. This is her seventh nomination – four as part of the cast and three individually – for the SAG awards. She is in the same category with Edie Falco (“Nurse Jackie”), Tina Fey (“30 Rock”), Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation”) and Betty White (“Hot in Cleveland”). Bobby Cannavale, the Cuban-American actor was nominated for his role as Boardwalk Empire’s gangster Gyp Rosetti for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Javier Bardem is up for the “Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role” category for his role in the recent James Bond film Skyfall. He will be up against big names like Alan Arkin (“Argo”), Robert De Niro (“Silver Linings Playbook”), Philip Seymour Hoffman (“The Master”) and Tommy Lee Jones (“Lincoln”). Other nominees include Glee’s Naya Rivera, Louis C.K. in FX’s Louie. and The Office’s Oscar Núñez. The SAG Awards will be presented on Jan. 27 on channel TNT. The guild nominations are one of Hollywood’s first major announcements before the Feb. 24 Academy Awards, whose nominations will be released Jan. 10.
