New Chagas Disease Spreads All Over Latin America
The Chagas Disease is slowly posting a threat world wide. Researcher are calling it the “new Aids of the Americas.” These parasites come from the family of blood sucking insects and they carry a parasitic illness, that is most commonly found in this so called “kissing bug.” Theres a wide range of symptoms similar to the flu, problems with the nervous, digestive and cardiovascular systems. You may be infected and not even know it, the disease can go unnoticed for years or even decades and is can cause damage to the heart, intestines and even up to your esophagus. The disease can also cause cardiomyopathy and arrhythmias which can eventually be fatal if not treated.Its estimated that about twenty-five percent of people who contracted the “Chagas” developed enlarge hearts and intestines that can potentially burst resulting in sudden death. The disease is all over Latin American countries from Bolivia, Mexico, Columbia and Central America. Reports from The Chagas Foundation say the disease affects up to 20 million people all through Latin America, making Chagas the highest impact infectious disease. There is also a small case in America where an estimated 30,000 people suffered from the disease, mostly coming from Texas. The disease was discovered in 1909 by a Brazilian doctor named Carlos Riberio Justiniano Chagas.
