Jasmine Villegas, a half-Mexican pop singer, is one of many sounding the alarm of domestically violent relationships. In her new video to the song “Didn’t Mean It”, she uses her own story to tell a world of young women to speak out and not be ashamed to if they are or have been in an abusive romantic relationship. About 30 seconds into the video, you see a home video, taken with a hidden camera, of possibly Jasmine herself, being hit to the floor and dragged off to another room – all you hear are screams. It’s a sad video, but rather brave and bold of her to speak out in a way that fans would be attentive. In an MTV.com interview, she said she wants those who are in these domestically violent relationships to get out and get help, and reminded them how beautiful and special they are.
