The exotic Colombian goddess, Shakira and Barbadian beauty Rihanna first single together, “Can’t Remember To Forget you” has caused controversy in Colombia, since it was released on January 30th.
Both singers look gorgeous as they dance seductively against walls and are featured rolling around together by the poolside in skimpy bathing suits smoking cigars. A total tease the to typical heterosexual male fantasy that has been viewed by 87 million to date.
It’s so sensational that even a top official in Shakira’s native Colombia, Bogota politician Marco Fidel Ramirez has urged bosses at Colombia’s National Television Authority to ban the promo for Shakira’s new song “Can’t Remember to Forget You” – because it features scenes of the topless singers getting intimate and rolling around provocatively on a bed wearing skimpy lingerie.
Expressing his concern on Twitter.com, Ramirez writes, “Shakira’s new video is a shameless case for lesbianism and immorality. It is a danger to children.
“It sends a provocative message to weak people who can be polluted and induced to practice (lesbianism).”
Really Señor Fidel? Did you even hear the song or get a translation of the lyrics?
If you did you would notice that the lyrics to their song “Can’t Remember To Forget You” Shakira and Rihanna are referring to the oppposite sex.
Here are just some of the songs lyrics where the words ‘he’ and ‘boy’ are mentioned several times:
“The way he makes me feel yeah, gotta hold on me”
And
“He a part of me now, he a part of me”
And the bridge goes:
“I rob and I kill to keep him with me,
I do anything for that boy,
I’d give my last dime to hold him tonight
I do anything for that boy”
Clearly the song is referring to each of their desire and longing for a ‘boy’.
The video is meant to be provocative, to seduce the ‘boy’ they want, and since most men love the idea of two very sexy women in lingerie, in bed together calling them, of course they are going to capitalize on it. This is nothing new, music as been sold for years using sexuality.
And so what if it they were lesbians showing love for each other, this isn’t something new that just happened, homosexuality has always existed and will always exists wheather some like it or not. Why as a society do we have blindfold ourselves to only one form of intimacy, why be ignorant to reality?
If it where about ‘influence’, then based on what has been seen through media for that past 50+ years then all mankind should be heterosexual and clearly that’s not the case.
If we are going to insist on censoring a video of two women together on a bed, singing a song, then shouldn’t we also insist the censorship of Rappers, Reggeatoneros etc., grinding on video vixens as well?
