Recently name Miss Dominican Republic will have to give up her crown because news got out about her true marital status. The rules for competing in the Miss Universe contest consist that any woman going for the crown must be single, and Tuesday it was discovered that Carlina Duran was married in 2009. Contest organizers scheduled a Wednesday night news conference for her to give the crown to the first runner-up, 24-year-old Dulcita Lieggi. The crown winner has not yet come out to speak on it. The 25 year old Duran owns a spa in Santo Domingo and hails from the town of La Vega. She was Crowned on April 17 and was selected to represent the Domincan Republic in the Miss Universe contest. Febles told the Dominican television news program “Noticias SIN” on Tuesday night that Duran acknowledged she is married. The Dominican newspaper Diario Libre also reported on its website earlier in the day that a marriage license was showed stating she was wed on June 6, 2009.
